Hi Everyone!
.
I know it has been a while, but I am back with another offering!!!! It all started here with the light seersucker XXL top on the left (from Goodwill) and the inspiration top on the right. While I am not into super deep v-necks, or lace that shows through to the skin, There was something about the inspiration top that I really liked. I felt reasonably sure I could give the same feeling to the Goodwill garment and create something that would be fashionable and work appropriate at the same time.
.
BEFORE: GOODWILL PURCHASE/INSPIRATION TOP

.
AFTER:
This fits perfectly into my casual lifestyle! I always want to be fashionable but I am not into being too trendy. My vibe is casual chic and I always want to be age appropriate. It was hard to get the details in this picture because of the white fabric so I have provided the closeup below.

.

.
TUTORIAL:
.
First I had to take off the sleeves and fit the side seams on my dressform. I also had to make the neckline smaller which required a center front seam. (I will hide that later)

.
.
You really couldn’t tell how big the Goodwill top was from the initial picture but it was long enough for me to cut a ruffle off the bottom. Here you see it cut, with the ruffles ready to sew.
.

.
The next step was to sew the ruffle on.

.
Here you can see the closeup of the neckline and how I pinned the lace down the center front to hide the front seam.

.
Now it is ready to sew the lace up the front and topstitch the sleeves. I just turned the sleeve edges over and topstitched. It took some time to get the lace on straight. It was a combination of machine and hand sewing that kept it there.

Super cute top Mary. I love your refashions and tutorials are great too. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Betty! Thanks so much for the feedback!! Have a great day!
Awesome job, Mary! You are so talented.
Hi Anny!
Thanks so much for the feedback. Lovely to hear from you as always!
Have misssed you,Mary. Love the top. You make it sound so easy, and I know it isn’t! However, it gives me inspiration to try one myself. Thanx.
Aww! Thanks Michele!
I am glad to be a source of inspiration. I will always be happy to answer any questions, any time!
Love the top! I have a few white blouses I don’t wear so I might have to get creative. Thank you. Have a great summer!
I would love to see them when you you do Terry! Send me some pics and you have a nice summer as well
I love this. Everything about it. I would have to keep and make the sleeves shorter because of my aging arms. I love the front lace trim and love the little ruffle. I, too, like things for my age and appropriate for work. This is cute without being “cutsey”, if you know what I mean. Thanks.
Hi Pat, I certainly do know what you mean. I live in fear of being the older woman who tries to dress too cutesy. I always want to look age appropriate without looking like a “wanna be teen” or an “old lady who has given up!” Casual chic with the right amount of skin showing!!!
Glad to see you are back! It always give me motivation to try a refashion when I see what can be done. I always like to see your inspiration piece and how you can personalize it.
I hear you Suzanne!
I am glad to be back at it too! Thanks for hanging in there with me.
I wish I could blog and sew full time and make a living at it!!!!
This is beautiful and looks like it’s very cool to wear too. Thanks for the inspiration and hope to see more of your summer creations.
Hey Georgie!

Loved your white top. Just right for a casual summer wear. The white lace is beautiful.
Hi Sadhana! You are so right. I am wearing it a lot now that the weather is warmed up! I have been holding onto that lace for a while now just waiting for the right project!
Lovely to have you ‘pop-up’ Mary. Always love to see what you are refashioning, and then modelling. Hope you are well. RUDE Girl x
