Size 16 to Size 8 Refashioned Blouse

April 21, 2013 By Mary Peterson 4 Comments

Hi Everyone!

Size 16 and frumpy, but I see potential.
Size 16 and frumpy, but I see potential.

A few months ago, I found this  size 16 beauty at my local “Goodwill” thrift shop.  It was not my size but I could picture a great blouse when I saw it.  I was careful to check it out from top to bottom.  The biggest thing about purchasing white shirts it to make sure there are no yellow underarm stains.  You want gently used or preferably unused.

I must tell you that this blouse gave me quite a struggle. I was going to go with set in sleeves but I kept playing with them and this cap puffed sleeve is what I finally ended with. At one point I was ready to put this on the blooper pile but I never gave up!

I struggled with it for a while but then ended up changing it to a capped sleeve. Resetting any sleeve takes time and patience.

    Mary,
That is very cute! You have a great eye for fashion! Ill admit I love thrifting (it’s what I can afford for the most part). I find some great bargains.
What you’ve done with your find is wonderful!
I look forward to more of your blogs, Mary!
    Have a blessed day!
    Love, Cindy

      Greetings Cynthia!

Welcome to my little blog! Thank you so much for your feedback. Thrifting is what many people can afford these days. That is how this all started and I now prefer it that way. I have great things coming this summer. Stay tuned.

      Love Mary

I have a blouse in my closet my husband got from Good Will, brand new, gold black trim….may try some of your magic. I didn’t have the Mount Mary Fashion design training, but the 4-H leader I had shared skills and passion-that’s what you have.

      Hi Marlene!

You are an excellent sewer from what I recall! I remember that peach skirt that garnered a blue ribbon from the county fair for your excellent work. Am I dreaming or isn’t that a fact! You inspired me then. I went right out and sewed a skirt of my own. We always were kind of competitive! LOL! Let me inspire and teach you now.

      Thanks for the comments!

      XXXX Mary
