No Sew Sweater Refashion and the Giveaway!

February 10, 2014 By Mary Peterson 31 Comments

Hi Everyone!

.

I was sidelined this week by a killer migraine. 🙁 YUK! But have no fear, the mistress of “Thrifty Chic” lives to blog another day!!! 🙂 Needless to say, I took it easy on myself this week so I am showing you a no sew refashion. I was just glad I took this picture before I went down for the count (migraines are really ugly!)

.

This is a mans sweater in a denim friendly color of blue that was saved from the Goodwill for a mere $2.50. Underneath, I have paired it with a former refashion of a mans shirt, (you may remember it), leggings and boots.

I have been seeing a lot of pins that look like this lately and I love the casual look. A bonus is that the length of the shirt hides my bum and hits my leg at its skinniest point. I could also wear this with skinny or straight jeans and flats like the picture below.

Mary, I hate to say it, but this is my least favorite of all I have seen you do on your blog. To me the undershirting is too much for the over-sweater. I think it would look nicer with a ‘collar’ only showimg. God bless you for you are sharimg the Talents that the Good Lord has blessed you with. May He ever bless your gifted hands, God please guard Sweet Mary, from all headaches. Amen

Thank you for your honest comments Debi. That is what I am here for. Never be afraid to say it like it is. You know what? After studying my picture, I must agree with you. The shirt underneath is too big. I do have another shirt coming up that might work a lot better.

Awesome looking handbag & it’s one of my favorite shapes. I picked one up at a consignment store that is almost the same thing & it was $3. The colors were Fall colors & it was Fall so it was a double good find. I’m new to your blog so I’m looking forward to following it.

I really like this casual look – I do think it would be better if the undershirt was a little “narrower” so that there isn’t quite so much fabric under the sweater, but the length is perfect! Love your blog, Mary. Glad you’re feeling better. 🙂

Hi Lori! Thanks for being a follower and I agree with you, too much fabric! I plan to fix this look in the very near future.

I love the bag, and I love the necklace you are wearing in your top picture. I’m going to have to figure out how to make one for me. Thanks for the great ideas.

Hey Mary, I just read your last post. Love your re-creations. As a fellow migraine sufferer I wanted to tell you to read on your soap, shampoo, toothpaste or anything you put on your body, to see if Sodium laurel sulfate is in it. It’s an industrial degreaser. I haven’t had a migraine in several months and hadn’t thought about why. I was just really grateful. I have been using mostly natural products I can get from Vitacost or my health food store. There may be something to it. Anything that alleviates those things is a blessing from above! Anyway’s…. I hope you never have another one. I look forward to getting your blog.
