Denim and Flannel Jacket

Hello Everyone!

Happy Holidays! I Know it has been a while, but I am still here and ready to show off my latest project. It all started out with this “Lovely” jean jacket and a flannel shirt that coordinated.

**I was only kidding when I said this jacket was “Lovely.” The sleeves were awful**!

This shirt was a find. It appeared to be unused!

**It turned out great! The hardest part was setting the sleeve. It took a lot of fitting before they were set just right.**

**You can’t see it in my picture but there are elbow patches!**

**Here is** the elbow detail: I felt the need to do it because this flannel was thin and the wear and tear on a jacket would quickly blow out the elbows. These patches were fused and then sewn down with embroidered detail on the edges.

Denim Jacket With Laces

I was about to walk out the thrift shop with nothing until this item strolled by on the new item cart. It had possibilities, and what those were I just wasn’t sure yet, but only time would tell. I just knew I had to have it, and calmly stalked it until it was released to the sale rack for $10. It was never worn, tags still on it! Score!

**BEFORE**
This was full of possibility, but it just wasn’t me. It was just too much. I loved the lacing but I just wanted a “Touch” of it, not the whole coat.

**AFTER**
Now this coat is me…**BUT WAIT**, there is a surprise inside!

Tutorial

I kept the coat in my stash for a few months and went through tons of different ways to change it came to mind, none “Just right” until I found a pair of jeans with this lovely long embroidery panel down the side and I knew what had to happen.

This embroidery is just what I needed to have this coat make sense for me!

**Release the embroidery from the jeans**

I’ll bet you are wondering about the surprise inside. Here it is I left the laces. They are still here!

**It was too much work to take out the laces so I thought why not leave them? I like giving interest to the inside as well as outside**.

Denim Jacket with Boro Style Stitch Detailing

When I came across this tattered denim jacket at $5, I couldn’t pass it up. The story behind this gem is that someone tossed it because they washed it with a package of pink bubblegum in the front pocket, (I spared you the picture). It seemed they placed it in the dryer as well because it created a lump as hard as a rock. I figured I had nothing to lose as the worst case scenario would be to cut out the mess and patch it up. Happily, careful spot treatments and washing took out the nasty lump no problem!

**My Grandma used to call this darning, but now it is called “Visible mending.”** **I used this matching thread for both pockets since I wanted a subtle mend in this anatomic area.**

**Bottom back detail** (you can see the light blue stitches from stitching in the lining)

**Back of neck detail-** (necessary to cover the ugly marks left by the original tag)

**Inside patch to cover the very unsightly tag**

**It turned out to be one of my favorites**!

I do wish I had a picture of me in it. Due to the lockdowns, my picture opportunities are very limited. My husband and son make me laugh so hard when they try being the photographer. It is just useless… they don’t understand. HAHAHA!

Denim Jacket Upcycle

Hello Everyone!

I hope this post finds you all healthy and happily refashioning. As for me, my love of denim jackets continues! When the thrift stores opened back up about a month ago, I found this genuine Levis jacket for $10. I added tapestry fabric on the yokes and back from another tapestry jacket that I found for about $5. Then to finish it off, I added a little color coordinated bit of lining made from flannel scraps. There is no model picture because this jacket is a little too small. It will eventually be sold or given as a gift. I love the result! Check it out…

Denim Jacket With Boro

Hello Everyone,

I just can’t seem to stop finding jackets that need my help! This jacket was no exception. Recently, I read that wearing torn denim with holes is losing popularity. So, that is great news since I have become obsessed with inspiration upon discovering the art of Boro stitching.

Before

**Front-All of the stars were white but I took out the embroidery to make a few of them navy**

After

**Now everywhere you look there is something of interest. I even added a polka dot lining.**

**Right sleeve and back shoulder are patched with scrap denim and accented with Boro type stitching**

**Right and left sleeve detail**
The blue star was created by taking out the white embroidery. I just stitched around it to create more interest.

I am so happy to share this one with you and can’t wait to hear what you think.
